Our Swim Specific Performance Camp teaches young athletes what it takes to develop the fundamental movement patterns and tools necessary for increasing swimming performance and overall health. Each day consists of two 90-minute sessions, one in the weight room and the other on the field. This camp focuses on having fun while teaching young athletes fundamental motor and movement patterns – the building blocks for future athletic success. Campers learn on-deck activation work for pre-training and competition, as well as bodyweight and medicine ball strength exercises. These movements are then practiced daily within the Smith and Laycoe Varsity Training Center and on the field. Each day involves activities and cooperative games that are designed to develop physical literacy concepts such as agility, balance, coordination, flexibility and strength. At the end of each day, participants learn recovery protocols by practicing flexibility, mobility, and stability exercises. Each day will be high energy, and your child will come home happy and tired.
Add on our morning Competitive Swimming Stroke Development program to further in-pool performance!
Components for Weight Room Session:
The fundamental movement competencies for all athletes revolve around the simple concepts of “Flex, Extend, Rotate, Stop, Start, Jump, Create and Hold Tension.” Our goal for all of our athletes is for them to be able to functionally move their body weight in space. Once the athlete is competent in this area, we can begin to add an external load (resistance and strength training).
