Develop critical thinking skills related to responsible journalism, social media, and advertising through fun and hands-on projects using cameras and green screens! Each day, key ideas and technical skills will be presented and then explored, promoting digital awareness and creativity.
This camp fosters a critical approach to social media and online content through creative creation of digital content. Participants will investigate responsible journalism through creating their own ‘fake news’, and advertising through designing commercials. Key ideas and technical skills will be presented at the beginning of each day, followed by hands-on creation of digital content. Participants will works in groups, developing their communication strategies and fostering a critical approach to digital content.
Topics will include: online safety: photos and videos; social media: selfies, photo editing, and augmented reality; reponsible journalism: ‘fake news’; and advertising literacy.
All participants must have photo/video consent in order to participate in this camp.
This camp is presented by The Cinematheque, a charitable cultural organization that has offered media and film education programs for over 20 years! From engaging digital literacy workshops, to unique filmmaking programs, The Cinematheque aims to foster a passion for the art of film, as well as a critical understanding of the visual media in the world around us.
